What Are We Doing with Computers?

In the morning, a friend sent me a paper, De novo design of selective kinase modulators. This team proved that computation can generate exceptionally precise mini-proteins to solve medical problems at the cellular level. Precise targeted drugs with zero side effects will eventually appear.

In the afternoon, someone posted a video in WeChat Moments of two Chinese robots boxing. A great many people cheered.

We have robots dance and drop handkerchiefs; we have robots fight. Yet I do not see robots being used for disaster relief, risk response, or other dangerous settings.

Is it because entertainment makes more money and better suits the nature of capitalists?
