Liberation
Passerby A: What does liberation mean?
Passerby B: The process or state of breaking free from constraints, oppression, restrictions, or exploitation, and gaining freedom, equality, rights, and the chance to develop to your full potential.
Passerby A: Then hasn't Taiwan already been liberated?
Passerby B: Huh? How do you figure?
Passerby A: The people of Taiwan broke free of the Chiang family's authoritarian rule and achieved democracy. They can now vote their rulers out. In 2025, Taiwan's nominal GDP per capita in US dollars was already higher than Japan's. There are pension programs and universal health insurance too. Isn't that liberation?
Passerby B: We're the ones who stand for justice. If we don't rule and administer a place, it hasn't been liberated. Only we get to define liberation.
Passerby A: So by that logic, the whole world is suffering and needs us to liberate it?
Passerby B: Exactly. That's right.
Passerby A: Then we should put up with more hardship ourselves, work harder, pay our taxes and contribute our income to make the country stronger, so we can go and liberate the whole world?
Passerby B: Congratulations. You're a proper member of the organization now.
